To many, entrepreneurs are agents of change: challenging the status quo to make the status quo better, faster, and cheaper. To many, the law is about adhering to precedent: doing things a certain way because certain legal principles have worked in the past and therefore set the tone for future conduct. It is helping define where the two meet, where the tension between the two becomes calculated risk-taking, that Chris has tried to define his career as a lawyer-entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur who helped build a company from day one, Chris has experienced first hand the frustrations of other entrepreneurs who view the legal system as an impediment to advancement, with arcane language no mortal can understand. As an attorney, Chris has witnessed how successful businesses leverage the legal system to create, capture, and add to their venture's value. As someone who has been fortunate enough to live in both worlds, Chris tries to take the best from each world and apply it to the other.
Since 2009, Chris has worked as an independent venture attorney with Indigo Venture Law Offices. IVLO is a firm committed to using technology to streamline the practice of law, and restoring attorneys to the roles of trusted advisors. Chris' primary area of focus with IVLO is in issues faced by startup and entrepreneurial ventures. With the help of his colleagues, Chris has developed two packaged legal solutions: RecordsReview and LLC Formation Advisor. Chris is also the co-founder of a health technology company based in Silicon Valley. Chris is a proud graduate of Boston University School of Law and the College of William and Mary.
